I Hate Quotes

I hate the way you talk to me, and the way you cut your hair.

I hate the way you drive my car.

I hate it when you stare.

I hate your big dumb combat boots, and the way you read my mind.

I hate you so much it makes me sick; it even makes me rhyme.

I hate it, I hate the way you're always right.

I hate it when you lie.

I hate it when you make me laugh, even worse when you make me cry.

I hate it when you're not around, and the fact that you didn't call.

But mostly I hate the way I don't hate you. Not even close, not even a little bit, not even at all.

Yes, yes. It's a direct quote from the teenage-romance-comedy drama in the 90s with title "10 Things I Hate About You" that has been my favorite drama since I first saw it in junior high school (it was year 2000 something actually, but not really too late I guess). This "I hate(s) quotes" are really implicating my earlier life while I was still a teenager and somehow cute to be heard. Well, I have this guilty pleasure that in my age (I'm 23, remember?) I still love to watch teenage drama - especially school drama - that involves girls romance story stuff. Mean Girls, Bring It On(s) and Step Up(s) are my absolute favorite.

Okay, I'm embarrassed.

Maybe this is because my parents never allowed me to watch something romantic or teenage-ic while I was still in the appropriate age to watch it (watching 10 things I hate about you in my 13-ish age? I must be very lucky back then). But come to think about it, I'm glad they didn't allowed me to because I now realize that something like that, especially in Indonesia, is never appropriate to be watched by the kids in age that purposely chosen by the film-maker. And when you watch it as a mature person, you can decide whether it's right or wrong and be responsible about that. As THAT mature person, I feel that watching some teenage-school-romance drama is purely an entertainment. A pause button to your ridiculously serious working life (and this way I'm so exaggerated) so you can laugh without feeling disgust like watching some adult-romance dramas. Well, pardon me here, it's just the way I look at it.

Anyway.. Kat Stratford as the main character reminds so much about myself. Not that I'm so outsider-ish or overly clever or have an opinion for everything or anything extreme, but my grumpy and anti-social side is really similar to her (okay, this is bad, actually). She HATES everything, that makes sense with the reason she made the "I Hate" sonnet for the assignment. Of course I won't even think about "flash" someone to save someone else from the detention. Using BIG words in conversation? Oh I loved that because it improves my vocabulary and making me easier to remember the words. And oh! The best part is, she also a drawing-illustrating type of person! So much for the excitement, right?

Talking about my artwork, I'm not really satisfied with it nowadays. I've been in HIATUS like too long. So this is the result when I push myself again to draw something using my color pencil combined with my marker. It's not really going well combining two very different style, is it? But I'll try different way somehow. Making illustration is the only hobby that keeps me alive in this boring situation as I blabbed in my last post. Let's make more doodles - or illustrations, anything you like best - to keep boredom away.
